I've looked it up: you're real people. You may or may not have jobs, or health care, or even housing, but you're worried that government will become too involved in your lives and, well... that's just awful.
Visual: you're one of those who think Obama is an enemy, and you're seated in your favorite chair. I'm behind you with a bat in my hands. I'm about to hit you over the head. I'll try not to hurt you too much, but for Christ's sake, someone's got to bring you to your senses! Millions of people in this country are living in poverty (the kind we were warned about when we studied Communism) and you're all in a dither about government ruining your life.
Don't you realize that government (under Reagan forward) has been ALL OVER YOUR LIFE? The policies of all administrations affect the us, but the policies of the Reagan years have resulted in so much corruption (thanks to deregulation) that government itself is what brought so many people to a place of no health care, no jobs, no home, and -- foolishly -- resisting efforts to help get you out of it from well-meaning folk who don't actually have profits and greed as our highest priority.
But can you see this? Nooooooooo!!! Astoundingly, you think Obama made this mess. And if you think he didn't start it then you think he screwed up in failing to stop it, or is screwing up in not fixing it fast enough or well enough or (pardon me) to your liking. Meanwhile, you haven't studied your history because, if you had, you'd know how foolish you're being.
The current economic situation didn't develop in a vacuum. It didn't develop as a result of government efforts seeking to help citizens who need it. (And let me remind you that the preamble to the Constitution specifically mentions the "common good", so get used to it: some of us actually care about how well our neighbors are doing and we like to help when needed.) Call us goodie two-shoes, but DON'T call us Nazi's, or Socialists, or Fascists. Call us patriotic, because that's what it is.
Every opportunity every Sarah Palin wanna-be gets, you manage to make yourself look more treasonous, more dangerous, and more stupid. And you want the rest of us to take you seriously! You've GOT to be kidding! Get a grip. Read books that you probably won't agree with. Get familiar with other points of view, and with the MANY ideas, from all parties, about how to fix things. Stop stopping things. We won't get anywhere until you realize you're a huge part of the problem.
I already know you won't like this, and it's not that I don't care. I really do. I wouldn't write it if I didn't care. I've reached a point of near desperation in an effort to get you to think things though.... REALLY think things through. Get rid of the good ol' boy attitude, sitting on the sidelines, poking fun and declaring all that's needed is to "get 'er her done". It's not gonna happen. Why? Because the friggin' ship is sinking. Obama's been trying to tell you this and you call him an idiot and worse. Do yo have any idea how ignorant you are? You can't even see the hypocrisy. BUSH bailed out the insurance companies. Did you really forget that? Bush and Cheney demanded full patriotism under the banner of never criticizing a war president. Bush left Obama with the worse recession in nearly a century and two wars. So Obama is also a war president. Have you really forgotten that too?
WTF! If you're so brilliant, then get in there with the rest of us and try to figure out how to fix things. When half the country thinks differently than you do, then you've got your work cut out for you. The other half of us knows how hard that is: we lived under Bush policies for 8 years. So grow up. Stop name calling. Obama is smarter than 99% of you, and his skin color has nothing to do with it. He's trying to work WITH and not AGAINST you, and you can't even see THAT! Good lord you're an annoying bunch!!
